Holy is his name

I picked up this postcard at a church over the weekend. As you can see, it is a painting of Mary holding the baby Jesus. Mary looks uncannily like actress, Natalie Portman, in costume as Padme from the Star Wars prequels. Unfortunately, both mother and child look Caucasian in appearance, and not even slightly Jewish. Presumably, the artist wasn't going for historical accuracy.

I agree that the painting looks very Caucasian. I like that Jesus was from the Middle East because his skin colour is more identifiable with everyone, not just an artist's impression.

From what I gather, the artist did this as an expression of worship. This isn't religious iconography, which I'm not comfortable with, but that's another story.
